Elevating the waterfront aesthetic with a touch of botanical grace. Amanda and Mark’s Sergeants Mess wedding flowers leaned into soft, ethereal palettes and organic shapes, offering a garden-inspired contrast to the venue’s clean, modern lines and the vast, blue expanse of Sydney Harbour.
Nestled within the emerald embrace of Mosman’s rugged bushland, Sergeants Mess stands as a testament to Sydney’s storied past and its breathtaking present. Just twenty minutes from the city’s pulse, this former military facility -created n in 1963 for the camaraderie of officers – has been reimagined as a pinnacle of harbour front wedding elegance.
While the venue’s landscaped amphitheatre typically offers a grand stage under the sun, the true romance of Sergeants Mess reveals itself when the clouds roll in. For this particular celebration, I retreated to the intimacy of the terrace. Beneath the shelter of the back deck, my team curated an abundant foliage arbour – a lush, verdant frame that defied the wind and rain, transforming a stormy afternoon into a private, sheltered sanctuary.
The reception included three different designs of wedding flowers. I adorned the tables with a rhythmic dance of height and softness: towering overhead foliage on tall white stands that echoed the ceremony foliage arbour, classic ceramic white urns overflowing with blooms, and delicate floral clouds that seemed to float just above the tables. As a local Sydney wedding florist, it is a joy to weave new love stories into the historic fabric of Chowder Bay.
For the soft pastel hues of the colour palette, I gathered a collection of roses and ranunculus in romantic shades of apricot and dusty, soft pinks. Rising from these lush bases were the architectural spires of delphinium and stock, introducing a sophisticated depth with their moody mauves and serene blues. To soften the edges, delicate lisianthus were woven throughout, their ruffled blooms adding a touch of whimsical movement to the more structured arrangements. Together, these varieties transformed the historic Sergeants Mess into a dreamscape of colour.
To honour the iconic surroundings of Sergeants Mess, my team curated an arbour of overflowing, whimsical foliage. By mirroring the natural textures of the harbourside landscape, the design felt rooted in its environment- a lush, botanical frame for Amanda and Mark’s vows.
A lush foliage arbour provided the backdrop for the exchange of vows. After the ceremony, the arbour was moved inside the reception to become the backdrop for the photobooth.

Venue – Sergeants Mess, Mosman
Overflowing classic ceramic urns with an abundance of garden style blooms was a highlight of the Sergeants Mess wedding flowers.
A dream in pastels, where soft hues met the serenity of sky-blue bridesmaid gowns. Delicate white scabiosa seemed to float like a whisper above the bouquets, artfully bridging the textures of wintry faux fur and the timeless intricate lace of the bride’s gown.
Plinths with candles were styled at the entrance to Sergeants Mess welcoming the guests to the celebration.
